I'VE just been reading in last week's edition that street lights are being turned off in certain areas in the near future so Wirral Council can save money paying for less use of electricity.
I remember going out, when I was a lot younger, in the 1950s and 60s and getting caught in the dark on my own.
How frightening that was. Ye Gods, is this what we're up against again?
We're going back to the dark ages (excuse the pun) and with maybe fewer council meetings, dinners, excursions and expenses – they could keep enough money in the kitty to pay for it all.
I pray to God nothing bad happens when this comes into force.
There's a great deal of good people in the world, but there’s also the other kind as well.
Be it on your heads, the people who thought of this ridiculous way to cut back on spending.
So, what’s next?
Mrs I Hughes, Newton
