THERE has been debate on all of the news channels this week regarding the cost of the Olympics and its 'legacy' stating that only 10% of British people have been inspired, at a cost of billions, to get up off their sofas and become more active.
I would like to state that Andy Murray has inspired three-out-of-four in our household to start playing tennis.
What will stop us sustaining this is the lack of facilities.
There are so few tennis courts available to start with, but in Moreton, there are two brand new council courts which are only open from 7am until 4pm, Monday to Thursday, until 12pm Friday, and weekends until 4pm.
When we get to them, they are nearly always in use due to the short opening hours.
Why, during summer holidays when all the kids are off, can they not be open until 10pm to allow more people to enjoy the facilities, and to increase the 10% Olympic legacy rate?
Paul Rice and family, Moreton
