I WOULD like to comment regarding the article headlined Crackdown on the pavement parkers, which appeared in July 24 edition of the Wirral Globe.

Wirral Council and Merseyside Police must not know anything about the roads in Wallasey or, come to that, many other parts of the borough.

In a lot of these roads, if drivers parked legally – for example off the pavement or verge – most of the roads would be impassable because cars can legally park adjacent to each other even in narrow highways.

It would then be impossible for other vehicles to get past, let alone emergency services vehicles or buses, come to that.

I do think that many motorists try to think of other people which is why we sometimes we break the rules.

It is for a very good reason and we do not need to be told what is for the best.

Sometimes we know what is best, it's just common sense that prevails.
