A MAN was allegedly assaulted and pushed into a car which drove off in Wirral.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the incident was reported on Sunday evening.
Police received a report of suspicious behaviour at the junction of Singleton Avenue and Woodchurch Road in Birkenhead.
Witnesses said a man was assaulted by two men who were travelling in what was believed to be an old Datsun car with a part registration number "X3".
It is alleged the man who was assaulted was then pushed in to the car, which was driven off along Temple Road towards Borough Road.
Police attended the scene but found no trace of the alleged offenders or victim.
The victim was white with a skinny build, aged in his 20s.
Detective Insp Mark Tivendale, said: "We are continuing to investigate this matter to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"We would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us as they may have vital information that could assist us with our enquiries.
"It might be that this was simply an argument between people who know each other, but we need to get to the bottom of this and are appealing to anyone who has information to come forward."
