A POPULAR Wirral headteacher has stepped down from her role due to “personal reasons.”
Pauline Roberts, who was headteacher at Ridgeway High School for four years, was suspended from work last August but parents claimed they were left in the dark as to whether or not she would return.
Hundreds of former pupils and parents joined a Facebook campaign to reinstate Ms Roberts and praise her contribution to the Noctorum-based school.
However Wirral Council has today confirmed that she has resigned from her role.
A statement released on behalf of Ridgeway High said: “Pauline Roberts has stepped down as headteacher of Ridgeway High School after four years. During that time, Ridgeway markedly improved its academic performance and received a commendation by the Government for its results which place the school in the top one hundred schools for improvement in the country.
“She has now, for personal reasons, decided to pursue her career in education elsewhere.”
