A DISABLED Wirral mum has thanked the community for their support after thieves broke into her home and stole cash saved up to buy Christmas presents.

More than £170 was taken after the heartless crooks crow-barred their way into Tracey Moran’s home in Gorsefield Road, Prenton, in the early hours of Saturday, December 1.

They also took a laptop and the family car, a grey Vauxhall Meriva, that had Tracey’s vital mobility scooter in the boot.

The motability scooter has since been replaced by Tracey's employer and a police investigation to find the rest of the items continues.

Tracey, 42, said: "While this has been an upsetting time for me and my family, I am speechless and overwhelmed by the amount of support we've received, not only from our family and friends but also from our employers and even strangers.

"My motability scooter has been replaced and my family has been able to enjoy Christmas. I'd like to say thank you to all of the people have been so kind to us."

Tracey, husband John and their two young sons were asleep upstairs at the time raiders struck.

The 42-year-old bookkeeper was diagnosed with myeltis, a viral infection of the spinal cord, and is only able to move around her home with the aid of walking sticks and a wheelchair.

Following the break-in, Tracey told the Globe: "We'd been saving up our Christmas present money in a glass jar for ages. What really sickens me is that the thieves have been walking around the house while my two boys were asleep upstairs.”

Detective Sergeant Gary Stratton, added: "It is vital that we find the people responsible for this callous crime and bring them to justice.”
