The stars of zombie drama The Walking Dead unveiled new footage from the upcoming seventh season at Comic-Con International – but the fate of one character remained a mystery.
British actor Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and a host of other cast members gathered for the event in San Diego, where a trailer was presented for the new series.
The sixth season ended on a cliffhanger as an unidentified character was beaten to death by villain Negan, played by Jeffrey, using his barbed-wire covered baseball bat, Lucille.
It remained unclear from the trailer which character met their grisly end, forcing fans to wait for the answer until the new series airs in America on October 23.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, each of the 11 cast members kneeling before Negan in the season six finale – including Andrew’s character Rick – filmed a death scene to avoid spoilers being leaked. The show’s producers were then left to decide who should be killed off.
