RETURNING to Liverpool's city centre in May award-winning Sound City have revealed 100 brand new names joining the line-up this year.

Aussie Britpop masters the DMA's will headline Saturday, May 5 while the likes of The Slow Readers Club, Idles, Picture This, Black Honey and Wye Oak warm up the main stage.

On Sunday, May 6 Brummie stargazers Peace will christen the night after performances from Sunset Sons, Baxter Dury, The Night Cafe, Dermot Kennedy, Jaws and Superorganism.

Over the weekend there will also be performances from the likes of The Blinders, Nick Ellis, Low Island, The Orielles, Billie Marten and Katie Mac.

Chief operating officer at Sound City Becky Ayres said: “This is a huge moment for us as we not only reveal our headline day splits but also the venues will be hosting our festival across in May.

"We really feel the spirit of discovery and exploration returning for our 11th year, with a huge range of artists performing in some brilliant locations.

"We want to capture the magic of the UK’s thriving scene as well as what is happening around the world, and feel this range of 100 artists will really entertain, inspire and thrill everyone in May.”

Moving back from the docklands and into the heart of the city centre, award winning Sound City will return on May 5 and 6 to kick-start the UK season in style.

This year the event will be partly curated by special guests including Glastonbury’s Silver Hayes, Kendal Calling, Bluedot, Greg Wilson, Domino, Moshi Moshi plus many more.

With warehouse parties, outdoor stages and pop-up areas, this leading light in UK festivals hopes to help the region's growing demand as a leisure pioneer.

During Sound City, events will be hosted in the likes of the Great Baltic Warehouse, Constellations, Camp and Furnace, Baltic Market, Hangar 34, District and 24 Kitchen Street.

Sound City is also working with DIY as the official Media Partner, Edge Hill University as the Sound City Innovation Partner, Liverpool John Moores University as the official Cultural Education Partner, and the Baltic Creative.
