GET ready for a little Madness next autumn as Suggs is returning to Warrington.

Singer and frontman Graham McPherson – better known as Suggs – was last in the town for his hit show, My Life Story.

Now the 58-year-old is coming back to the Parr Hall with ‘Suggs: What a King Cnut – A Life in The Realm of Madness’ on October 24.

If the first show was about how Suggs went from working in a butcher’s in Chapel Market, north London, to becoming the frontman of Madness, the follow-up is about the surprises that awaited him when he did.

The band may have had five top five albums and 10 top five singles but there were a lot of surreal moments in between and times when it could have gone horribly wrong.

From vertigo on the roof of Buckingham Palace and nearly blowing the closing ceremony of the Olympics, to the embarrassing stuff that happened at Glastonbury, the intimate show is set to recount Suggs’ 40-year career.

Plus there will be music too.

With help from Deano, his trusted pianist, Suggs will be telling his story in words and music.

Holly Jones, from Parr Hall, said: “Things have gone a smidge surreal since Suggs was a 12-year-old in shorts on the tough streets of north London.

“Constantly expecting that inevitable tap on the shoulder to hear: ‘What are you doing here, Sunshine?’, Suggs knows that in this business you can be washed up at any minute.

“Fame is a tightrope and Suggs has fallen off many times.”
