THE Who are going on tour with a full orchestra to celebrate the release of their first album in 13 years.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend's band has one of the greatest rock legacies in music history having sold more than 100 million records in a career spanning six decades.

The new record, simply called Who, will be released on November 22 and then the UK tour will begin in March including a date at Manchester Arena on March 16 and Liverpool Arena on April 6.

Recorded in London and Los Angeles, the songs on Who cover everything from the Grenfell Tower fire to ‘an old rock star that has lost his marbles’. Ball and Chain, the first single from the album, is available to stream now.

Roger said: “I think we’ve made our best album since Quadrophenia in 1973, Pete hasn’t lost it, he’s still a fabulous songwriter, and he’s still got that cutting edge."

Emerging in the mid-1960s as a new and incendiary force in rock and roll, the world famous band have since been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the UK Music Hall Of Fame, have lifetime achievement awards from The Brits and The Grammys and in 2008 they were the first rock band to be awarded the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors.
