CARRUTHERS Reg ("Mr C" of Townfield Lane School) 20th December 2021. Passed away at home aged 83 years following a short illness. Leaves behind wife Irene, daughter Jane and sister Susan. Funeral service at St Mary and St Helen's Church Neston Tuesday 18th January 2022 at 1.30pm followed by cremation at Landican Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Reg may be sent for Book Trust or Young Minds c/o Charles Stephens Funeral Directors, Miniver House, The Cross, Neston, Cheshire CH64 9UB. Tel 0151 336 4184

Dear Jane and family,

So sorry to hear of your loss. It seems like most people on the Townfield Facebook group thought Mr. Carruthers was the best teacher they ever had. I never had the luck of being taught by him, but both my sisters did, and they also thought he was their favourite teacher. Victoria Clark, Sue Ashburner and Fiona Cuthbertson (from BHS) asked me to pass on their condolences to you.

Mr. Carruthers was definitely one of my all time favourite teachers. I was in his class 1990-1991. He had a way of making the dullest subject interesting and enjoyable. He was compassionate, funny and incredibly likeable by everyone at Townfield. After leaving for high school I would often drop in on my way home for a chat and he always made time and never seemed put out.
Please pass on my love to his family, friends and colleagues.

As a former student I have very fond memories of Mr C. Some teachers stay with you for life and he was one of them. Rest in Peace Mr C and thank you.

Mr Carruthers was the best teacher I ever had. If only all teachers were like him. He was my teacher for the last 2 years at Townfield school, I left 1980. He made me believe I could go to University and I did. I am eternally grateful for having him as my teacher and for his early encouragement. RIP Mr Carruthers.

RIP and goodnight and godbless Mr C a fantastic teacher I'll always remember how he always had time for his pupils past and present! Was one of a kind and an old time gentleman! Thoughts and prayers are with your friends and family.

So very sad to hear of Mr Carruthers passing. He is very fondly remembered by former pupils from Townfield. Who often recall in the group how he was their "best teacher ever" due to the support, guidance and fun he brought to the classroom. God bless Sir and rest in peace xx
