Thetis memorial is inadequate

I AM writing in response to ex mayor of Wirral, Hugh Lloyd, who replied to my letter regarding a suitable memorial for the victims of the Thetis tragedy.

I think the memorial he refers to is inadequate and does not do justice to the sacrifice made by the Thetis victims.

St Mary’s Tower, where the present memorial is situated has been closed since February and is unlikely to re-open before July 2013, and when it does re-open it is situated behind closed doors and also it is not easily accessible for wheelchairs and the disabled.

If a memorial were to be placed in Hamilton Square it would be accessible at all times to everybody.

I would appreciate a comment from Wirral Council to see if they are interested in this suggestion.
