Bad dog owners are a danger to cyclists
2:28pm Tuesday 25th September 2012 in Letters
IN reply to the letter "Bikes are an accident waiting to happen" - other cyclists and I will not use the cycle lane from Derby Pool at Wallasey beach for three very good reasons.
1 We have been attacked by dogs who are running off the lead.
2 Dog-walkers who can't be bothered carrying their doggy bags to the next litter bin throw them from the lower path to the cycle lane.
3 There is a very low wall which borders the lane and if we had to swerve to avoid anything and go over it the outcome would I am sure will be fatal.
We have spoken to dog wardens who are aware of the situation and agree that the pathway and lane from Harrison drive to Meols are a disgrace.
Two of us who ride from Seacombe to West Kirby nearly every day have the scars were we have come off to prove we know what we’re talking about.

Perhaps we need to shame doggers into putting their doggy bags in the bin like the painted signs we have at bidston old tip cycle route, its worked so far in shaming the women responsible.
