Litterbugs' blight on rural Wirral

AS a resident of the rural part of Clatterbridge ward, I have often had the unenviable experience of having to report cases of Fly-tipping in the country lanes; which are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, walkers, riders, and cyclists.

Along with the scourge of Flytipping is the problem of litter, often ejected on to verges from passing vehicles; this also costs the Council to clear up.

If people purchase food and drink and carry in bag to consume while travelling; why can they not take their cans, bottles packing home in the same bag, presumably they have bins at home to deposit their rubbish.

It seems either too lazy or throw it out and someone will clean up for them, regardless of the mess and spoilt environment for the local residents.

It is up to people to report incidences of flytipping, noting vehicles and encouraging their families to respect other parts of Wirral they visit.

There's no easy answer to this. You're right, in that the community themselves can play a part by keeping their eyes open for environmental transgressions: but who will act upon that information and actually go to the trouble of prosecuting someone who throws a chip wrapper out of a car window on a country lane? The authorities have bigger fish to fry, such as persecuting those who want to know whether their council tax is being lawfully levied.

As you mention Thorton Hough i drive through there daily and the drivers who use this lovely village have no respect for anything? speeding, litter dropping, are the normal for these selfish so called drivers.
