Wirral's disabled people shouldn't fund the greedy
1:48pm Tuesday 14th August 2012 in Letters
THE Wirral Globe has since the beginning of the year been printing articles on social services over-charging and they are still over-charging.
My advocate has been fighting for a long time to get me support. When we thought we had access to a service, it turned out the charges were outrageous and out of range of people that can ill afford those prices.
In fact, I was paying for the personal assistant not social services. When talking to somebody at social services, I was told that I was offered a PA but I didn’t accept it because they expected me to pay £60 a week out of my allowance.
And I will not be the only one that cannot afford these prices. All this is doing is leaving vulnerable people isolated and on their own.
All this achieves is putting more people out of work as well.
They put me on to an agency but they are now trying to stop their funding. I have had problems with social services for many yeas and it is badly affecting my health and I have decided to go on hunger strike which I can ill afford with having diabetes on top of all my other health problems.
Why should the ill and disabled fund the luxurious lifestyle of the rich and greedy?
