What a cruel, mean-spirited thing to say about Wirral Blue Badge holders

I FEEL compelled to write in response to a recent Wirral Globe letter, regarding an anonymous correspondence about Free Parking for Blue Badge holders.

What a cruel, mean spirited thing to think never mind say. For a start, in the true sense of the word, it's hardly free is it?

The badge holder has to have some sort of disability to qualify.

It is not as if they have won it in a free raffle.

Secondly, it is also for them to be allowed to park in spaces that are beneficial to their frailties, ie, close to shop entrances etc.

Thirdly, and perhaps most significantly, it is hardly some type of reward for developing a disability.

My friend suffers with Multiple Sclerosis, and is a Blue Badge holder.

If he lived in the fantasy world the aforementioned letter writer clearly lives in, I know for certain, if somehow this terrible illness could be taken away tomorrow, he would be more than willing to pay treble the going rate for parking anywhere.

Please think first anon. There are others much worse off than you.

There are a great many deserving blue badge holders, similar to the users of Motability vehicles. Sadly, you the tax payer, are once again paying for facilities used by others, or should I say 'abused'. A near free Nissan Qashqai for a one off payment of £3000, then free servicing, tyres and road tax. Just because Gran smoked too much and can't get about, but not to worry, her boy racing grandson uses the Nissan to get her fags for her, in between, other none essential joy rides.....and parks where he likes with the aid of that blue badge.
