  • "Well, there is the very outside chance of there being so many wind turbines sited around the Wirral that, one day in the future, and northerly gale blows up and it is of such force it causes the said turbines to lift the whole area and deposit the Wirral on the French Riviera ! No?"

Wirral would be 'fenced in' by wind turbines

PLANS currently being presented by Dong Energy to extend the Burbo Bank Offshore Windfarm show little respect for the sense of "place" that makes Wirral so special.

The proposed extension will undoubtedly make the north Wirral coast feel enclosed by a long 'fence' of huge turbines, spoiling for ever that wonderful open aspect of wide horizons which is already disappearing behind the existing windfarms.

And, to make matters worse, Dong "cannot guarantee" that the turbines won't be built abroad.

So Wirral folk end up with the visual destruction of our coastline, and we will look out at an array of foreign-built structures making a handsome profit for a foreign company!

Make your views known before it is too late.
