NEVER have I been so angry as to the way Wirral Borough Council have decided to close down care and respite homes based on a so-called borough-wide consultation.

There are more than 311,000 people in Wirral, of which 38,000 are carers.

The so-called consultation had a response of less than 6,000 replies.

This is what they have said they used as the basis for closing these services.

How can so few of the general public give an informed opinion on something they know very little, if anything, about and the knock-on effect of their comments?

There was no consultation with either the service users or their carers, there has been no equality impact assessment which should have been done before any decision was reached. I am fuming at how morally bankrupt this council has become.

We were promised transparency and openess - we carers/service-users have been betrayed.
