SPY car, slippery slope in this economic climate?
Hearing and reading about what a mess Wirral Council's finances are in, it comes as no surprise to me to read on the front page of your paper about the fines this spy car is doling out.
The problem the council has is a massive black hole in its finances with budgetary cuts of between 25-40% looming over head, and while cuts will most certainly happen, I am fairly confident that not all the problems can be solved by cutbacks.
So what else can the council do? Answer, to raise revenue by other means, these could be an increase in car parking charges, an increase in council tax, or, suprise, suprise, hit the already heavily-burdened motorist.
