I willingly accept Cllr Stuart Kelly’s invitation to point the finger at politicians (MP calls for council chief executive to resign, Globe, March 10).
He heads the queue. On two occasions he has scuppered plans for the best reform of secondary education in Birkenhead. In October last year, the Liberal Democrats, including Cllr Kelly, voted for a three-schools-into-two academy proposal.
A week later, he was attacking the proposal against an all boys’ academy, even though we have two girls’ schools in Birkenhead.
Then in January, the Labour group proposed that parents could have a say on the location for the new academy.
Stuart Kelly helped veto extending that choice to parents. If the electorate accepts Cllr Kelly’s invitation that it is politicians that should be held to account, he is at the head of the queue.
Frank Field MP, House of Commons, SW1.

I hear that Alan Stennard is retiring early, hands up if you think he will be missed, as Steve Maddox claims.
