Wirral Community Payback letters are nasty and ignorant

I am writing with regards to all the nasty letters from ignorant people regarding young offenders on the payback to community service.

My 19-year-old son and his best friend are currently on community service for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

After a night out my son and his friend had just arrived home when they came across a man beating his partner, punching and kicking her, my son asked him to stop. It then turned into a row as this guy continued using his girlfriend as a punch bag. The thug then turned on my son and his friend and a fight broke out, the police came and everyone was arrested.

My son ended up in court with his friend, charged with affray and got 225 hours of community service.

All this because he went to help someone, was he supposed to walk away and let the girl be kicked to death?

Not all young offenders are scallies. My son and his friend both work full time and have never been in trouble before.

They go every weekend to their community service and find it degrading the way people look at them and treat them, as do I.

So to all those ignorant idiots out there, don’t judge a book by its cover.

Name and address supplied.

I really don't think anyone who was 'as pure as the driven snow' would get 225 hours - has to be more to this story surely?

I'm not being funny here - but where are all these nasty letters? I looked at the comments to the original letter about community payback and I didn't see them. Indeed, there were letters there supporting what the writer had said. Or are you referring to somewhere else?

Not everyone can be a famous footballer, be charged with affray and walk away Scott free. Affray is classed as serious and thats why the high amount of community service hours are given. Circumstances are not taken in to account.
