Councillor 'playing politics' with children's education

I am surprised Stuart Kelly draws attention to what I regard as his irresponsible actions (Globe Mailbox, January 6).

Birkenhead constituents know I favour policies which hand power back to local communities and Academy schools have a proven track record in improving school performance.

The decision on Birkenhead schools, however, has been made and we now have a duty to make the very best of that decision.

Laying out old arguments can only harm school prospects in Birkenhead and, unlike Cllr Kelly, I do not believe we should play party politics with the future of young people in Birkenhead.
