Well done, the tribunal in the case of the use of the spy car, it is refreshing that a tribunal stands up for the rights of the public on this issue. As for the council not considering re-claims on fines already paid, I disagree.

Many members of the public do not know their rights on these matters and it is the duty of the council to inform people of their rights so they should repay all fines with interest for failing to follow proper procedures.

As for illegal parking of the spy car to collect evidence, they are breaking the law and are in full knowledge of the fact, so that is a deliberate breach of the law and should pay a bigger fine because of their position as enforcers, the same as any member of the public would have to. If people were aware of all their rights, maybe the council would not be so eager to introduce new restrictions which cost the public in fines to put more money in the council’s purse.

Would the council be prepared to inform the public what the procedure of appeal is, giving the full cost to the public before going to court.

Also, what is the procedure and cost before going to court ie, getting a copy of parking or speeding photos names of officers and their duties?

I would also like to see traffic wardens sign their names so you can read it. As it is, if you went to court, you would not know if it the right warden because in most cases, you cannot read their names.

Most people cannot pay the cost of appealing because of the expense of getting evidence, so they just pay the fine.

Who paid for these cars? Were they bought with public money, without public knowledge of their purpose to spy and catch members of they public for every minor infringement possible?

At the end of the day, we are paying to be spied on and paying fines so the council can make more money from the tax payers. Where do the profits go to and why is it not published so we know how much there are making from our spy cars?

And, most importantly, where is it going to - certainly not on our public baths, libraries and other facilities they have closed.
