Credit to volunteers who organised Hoylake Parade reunion

I SHOULD like to thank the community of Hoylake and surrounding area for the tremendous support given to the Centenary exhibition at the Parade Centre last week.

It was great to see the excitement generated by the glimpse of the last 100 years of Hoylake with so many residents bringing pictures and memories.

The local schoolchildren attending with their teachers for ‘strict’ lessons as they were in 1909 in our reconstructed classroom had a great time, as did we all.

Their behaviour was also a credit to their schools.

Talks by Heather Chapman, a reunion for over 300 ex pupils from all over the world and a party for the current users of this wonderful building made this a memorable week.

It was great to see such community support for their centre which we are sure will be there in 2109 for the Bi-Centenary.

Thanks to the volunteers as yet unborn!

Vaughan Williams, Chairman, Joint Management Committee, The Parade Centre, Hoylake.
