It’s no good hiding behind your TV monitors

I totally agree with everyone’s comments and concern about the spy car visiting our towns and villages.

I recently saw it in Bebington monitoring “parking offences” along the main road.

Yes, there is a problem with people stopping where and when they shouldn’t, but also seen at the same time was a police CCTV vehicle roaming the same streets. Value for money?

But what I want to know is, why did the driver of the vehicle I saw consider himself above the law?

He was parked on a yellow line during a no-waiting period, and also had a handy clipboard on the streetside window to hide himself from public view.

This was in place when he drove to his parking spot thus obstructing his vision.

Both these things are parking offences you or I would soon be picked up for!

I can imagine his reaction had I gone to his window and tried to take his picture.

If the council want to deal with these “problems”, then get people on the street with personal and communication skills and build up a community spirit to resolve the problem rather than antagonising and alienating the population.

Don’t hide behind dark windows and remain nameless behind TV monitors.

It seems that local government as well as our national MPs have forgotten they are here to serve US as our employees and they should show us the respect that they expect, and we deserve.

Maybe we should take down all cctv cameras then?

This one is different to all the others only in the fact that it is able to move aboout and targets specific acts of antisocial behaviour.

I reiterate what I have said elsewhere, I believe slumdog works for WBC, he is always the first there defending them

Its the same old story once again, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, we should be concentrating on more important matters, why cant we have a Mayor like the one in Doncaster, he has already slashed council costs with a few simple common sense isues. Now he is working on cutting the number of useless councillors, and making the council departments accountable for what it is they do, if anything

Hugo, no-one knows what they do - all 66 of them! I agree, there should be a mass cull of councillors to give the public some sort of direct responsibility instead of this 'collective' responsibility which turns out to be no responsibility at all.

Hugo, is that the Loony English Democrat, mayor of Doncaster who was expelled from the Tories for tax evasion?

The one some people call the Boris Johnson of the north?

The man who withdrew funding for a gay parade in Doncaster that made huge amounts of money for the town's businesses?

Peter Davies, the man who tried to illegally withdraw translation services for anyone who cant speak English, thus denying them access to services?

How do the crime figures compare to before well had all the cctv cameras? Most criminals are thick and don't think they will get caught and so aren't bothered about the cameras. Tony Blair said "tough on crime etc." but as far as I can see the tough is on the motorist through parking and speeding fines etc.

Jayo.. only thick, criminal motorists who dont think they will get caught!

slumdog,
Has anyone on Wirral, other than a motorist, ever been prosecuted using cctv evidence?

Jayo, Wallasey says...

Slumdog.
Come on whats the bigger crime ? leaving a bit of rubber on yellow paint or drug dealing ? I know both are "crimes" but one is pursued with great zeal and the other is just matter of fact. But both are financially mega.

Good point Arris, if they have not then why do we have so many cctv cameras? The latest one only targets motoring offences.

Jayo, It is not about protecting yellow paint from rubber marks. It is about having to force idiots to have some respect for other people.

I often see cars parked on the pavement and so must you. It is disrespectull and antisocial to block the path of other people because of your own ignorance and self imortance.

Drug dealing and motoring offences both cost lives. The difference is that most fatalities from drugs have voluntarily taken them. Most people who die or suffer injury from traffic accidents or traffic related accidents have not. They are mostly the indirect victim of a brain dead yee haa.

You ask why they park on the yellow lines is it not obvious? to enforce the location silly lol.. where else is it going to park to carry out its enforcement. Whilst I dont always agree with things like this its strange people dont understand why it parks in a location to do its job. Anyway WBC seemed to of approved it and thats those labour/lib dem's who got us this CCTV

Slumdog
I agree about cars parked on pavements as in Winchester Road many cars are parked on the pavements all four wheels and they mostly have drives. But no speed cameras can pick up tailgating for instance or cutting across all three lanes at high speed to make a turn off or any other example of dangerous driving far more fatal than anti-social parking.
