AS a special needs teacher in a Wirral special school, I try to teach my pupils to treat everyone with respect.
Clearly no-one taught the staff who work for the parking engineer's office to treat Wirral residents with anything but total disrespect.
Earlier this month I was unfortunate enough to have my car break down in Birkenhead.
As a female on my own I had to park my car in the nearest safe place I could reach, which had double yellow lines.
I left a large note in the windscreen explaining I had broken down while I went to get some help.
A traffic warden waited four whole minutes before putting a ticket on my car, so I appealed against the ticket.
I explained the circumstances and was asked for evidence of repairs to my car.
I then explained that my son and two friends took me back to my car with jump leads and that they would be happy to email the parking engineers to corroborate what happened.
My appeal was rejected as I could not provide "evidence" of repairs to my vehicle, clearly inferring that Wirral Council employees at the parking engineer’s office think that all Wirral residents are liars.
How much money has this process cost Wirral taxpayers when surely common sense should have prevailed?
I have to wonder if the parking engineers are targeting Wirral motorists as an additional revenue stream for a council struggling with its finances.
