IT'S never a good sign when the letters page begins with "I have nothing against cyclists, but..."

I have nothing against letters pages, but they are nothing if not predictable.

Cyclists, motorists, dog-walkers, young people, old people...

It's always easy to complain about 'them.'

But what good does it do?

As a road-user, I have nothing against other road-users, but there seems to be an awful lot of you these days.

Frankly, it would make my life much easier if the rest of you spent more time at home, rather than clogging up the roads.

But probably the feeling is mutual.

What is it about us (not 'them') that makes us always want to blame other people for all that’s wrong with the world?

Maybe that is the problem, not only with cyclists, but with all of us.
