IN HIS comments regarding the latest scandal in Wirral Council, namely the damning Ofsted report on children’s services, Frank Field MP says that there should be no hunt for scapegoats.
I strongly disagree and think that many council tax payers will think the same.
Scandal after scandal has enveloped the council and no one is ever taken to task and disciplined.
Over the many years of serious financial and management problems, senior staff have been allowed to resign with full pensions and enhanced pay-offs.
Some then re-appear in other local authorities carrying out similar tasks.
Until, as with other organisations, council staff are subject to sanctions for inefficiency and dereliction of their duties, nothing will change or improve.
