IN a recent edition you printed two letters in favour of the 38 bus being re-routed down Central Road/ Church Drive Port Sunlight.

Stagecoach started this re-route on July 24, immediately after the school term finished and without reference to residents.

At a public meeting a representative of the Village Trust announced that neither the trust (they run the Museum) or Lady Lever Art Gallery or garden Centre had been consulted.

Three local councillors also said they were wholly unaware.

This completely contradicts the letter sent by Stagecoach to those raising any complaints.

As of September 4 the number 2 Liverpool to Chester Service will follow the same route.

As this service is more frequent than the 38, there will be more than 80 buses re-routed down a single carriageway, double-parked residential road with school and church which is also a designated conservation area.

Stagecoach said at the public meeting that they had failed to take account of the special nature of Port Sunlight.

The representatives said the decision to run the bus down this road was commercial.

I say that for every person who finds the bus stop on Church Drive convenient, there is another for whom it is too far away and pensioners ride for free, so it is fair to conclude that Stagecoach have not made this 'commercial' decision to make life easier for them .
