HOW long does it take exactly for Wirral Council to sort out and repair all of its faulty street lights across the roads of Wallasey?
Many of these – usually in clusters of four to six in any one area, mostly at junctions – have remained broken since the beginning of the year.
I've already made repeated enquiries to the relevant Streetscene department bringing these problems to their attention, and yet all I am getting are excuses about budget cuts, and assurances that they would be 'looked into as a matter of priority'.
It's now almost five months since I first contacted them about this, and yet after all this time, and constant promises made by their street lighting departmental chiefs, not a single one of the these broken lights has been repaired, despite them saying LED lights were introduced in order to save on running costs.
To anybody else, it would appear more likely that the council have simply decided to neglect all the faulty light repairs just to save money instead.
It beggars belief that we have such an incompetent council as Wirral who are obviously more interested in their PR exercises and wasting taxpayers' money on other gestures to the benefit of only themselves, instead of diverting their resources into addressing urgent safety issues such as this.
What do they have to say for themselves?
I'm sure they’d be the first to start whinging if we decided to withhold paying another penny of our council tax until they sort this whole matter out.
