THERE is something strange about the continuing story over the production of a proposed monthly council newsletter to everyone, rather than on a quarterly basis as required by the government.
The cost is said to be £270,000 per year and the plan appears to be likely to incur an expensive legal battle with the government if it goes ahead as planned.
The idea that all residents are kept informed about local issues and public service announcements is very commendable but could not the local press be used as the vehicle to tell everyone what is going on at a much reduced cost, and then it could be done even on a weekly basis.
As an immediate example of keeping residents in touch, would the council like to reply to this letter explaining their reasoning?
