I RECENTLY joined a small group of people for a guided tour around the ex-RAF air base at Hooton Park, Wirral.
On this tour we were told the history of the base, took a look at the hangars which are being restored and saw a small museum run by a charity called 'The Griffin Trust'.
During the tour we were shown a surprise exhibit – it turned out to be a renovated horse-drawn tram which our guide explained was being stored for Wirral Council.
This tram once stood inside the Woodside Ferry Terminal and was removed to make way for the German U-boat exhibition.
The tram made British and European history for Birkenhead in 1860 being introduced by the American George Francis Train.
It would seem that the nearby transport museum at Taylor Street do not want it in their building.
What is wrong with Wirral Council, hiding away this historic vehicle?
Come on Wirral, get your act together!
