LAST week my elderly mother had to be admitted to Arrowe Park Hospital, she was in a lot of pain and distress.

The ambulance arrived and parked a distance from the house but when it came time to transfer from her bed to the back of the ambulance they had to move the ambulance down to the middle of the road.

She lives in a cul-de-sac near the centre of West Kirby which is used by a local garage for parking the cars they are servicing, people using the Concourse or the trains etc as a free car park.

The ambulance drivers – who were excellent – then had to get her down a flight of stairs, stopping every now and then to relieve her pain by administering gas and transfer her to a stretcher before getting her settled into the ambulance.

There was a queue of cars behind whose drivers displayed total ignorance and arrogance by blowing their horns.

This added greatly to the distress of both my mother and myself.

I do hope that one day they do not have to experience this situation and have people displaying such ignorance and bad manners.
