EVERY week or so the Globe prints a letter from someone complaining about Wirral Council’s refusal to listen to its residents’ wishes and blatant waste of our money. I entirely agree with all those letters.
But there is one way to deal with this – stop voting back in those councillors who now make up the majority in the council.
Once there was a proposal that West Wirral should go back to Cheshire County.
However, it would have meant losing the free access to public transport after 9.30am for retired people which was only available at the time in Merseyside, so it never happened. Now the free access is countrywide.
Some months ago a national survey put Cheshire among the top well run counties in England.
Wirral is the worst run council area in which I have ever lived.
So, please, could we try Cheshire instead?
