HOW kind of Wirral Council leader Phil Davies to waver the £141 fee to close roads for the Queen's birthday celebrations and to reinstate lifetime leisure passes – but only because of immense pressure and protest to do so.

He said the decision to withdraw these passes made sense from a purely "business perspective" but added he believed they should now honour their commitment – too true they should.

I would remind Cllr Davies that he and the rest of the council were given their positions to work for us and not to make life difficult and miserable.

If this is how they treat loyal ex-staff there is little hope for the rest of us.
