I FEEL I have to put pen to paper so to speak over the way this council is now trying to reduce the number of school crossing patrols.

They tried to take back the leisure centre Passport for Life gift from those who had worked for the council for many years.

They failed with this, now they are trying to reduce the number of school crossing patrols.

These are so important for the health and safety of the schoolchildren.

It is so annoying as the only people that have not been affected by the cuts this council has made are the councillors themselves.

They get free laptops, mobile phones transport to and from meetings etc.

If the number of councillors was reduced by one third – 22 – this would save tax- payers nearly half a million pounds per year.

The problem is it is the councillors themselves who would be voting for the cuts – and I can't see that happening.
