WHEN jobs are lost in the heavy industry, there is a huge outcry in the media.

The Government steps in with support and help for the area affected, yet where are they when the office jobs are under threat?

Most people don't know about the Government's scheme to remove the legal right to compensation for most road accident injuries.

60,000,000 people are affected in England and Wales, yet if they get their way in excess of 45,000 people who work in this sector helping injured people recover their losses, including many thousands round here, will lose their jobs and be forced to claim benefits.

These are not 'fat cat' QCs, but dedicated employees on ordinary pay rates.

If the Government's plans come to fruition, the impact on our region’s economy will be many times greater than the recent loss of steel industry jobs, for example.

The Government, far from supporting these legal industry workers, are the ones responsible for threatening the jobs in the first place. HM Treasury will lose billions in income tax and other taxes.
