RE voting: we have been urged to vote in the European debate in / out.

I don't remember way back in 1974 being offered the chance to vote for a new county when Merseyside was forced upon us (and that county council did not last long).

Where has the democracy gone with reference to the latest political nightmare?

I refer to the enforced so-called 'Greater Liverpool', so the council leader has said that he speaks for all Wirral citizens, well not me!

Wirral will gain nothing from this liaison.

I remember well the government forcing Birkenhead and Wallasey to join Liverpool with the bus services.

Wirral lost very good transport at the time, I was a driver for Birkenhead Corporation.

Liverpool have stripped service from Clatterbridge Hospital (too far to travel) and closed the excellent Bidston Observatory, both going to Liverpool.

Over the years events like the Tall Ships have been relocated to Liverpool as their citizens complained about having to travel across that wide river.

I have never used Merseyside on my postal address and certainly will not use Greater Liverpool and I cannot ever see Wirral swamped with cash from the government, we would probably be quite well off if the council did not give hand outs to other councils across the country.

If only the clock could be turned back.
