I RECENTLY visited the Unity Theatre for the first time and discovered what a warm, friendly and inexpensive little theatre it is.
I had been listening to the inimitable Peter Grant being interviewed by Radio Merseyside's Roger Lyon, about the forthcoming play Moggies the Mewsical and was intrigued.
I had heard Peter being interviewed on other occasions by Maureen Walsh about the book, written and illustrated by Peter’s partner Cathy Roberts, and now it had been turned into a stage play, or rather, a musical.
So, off I went with my daughter.
The theatre itself is delightful and, after having drinks in the bar, we took our seats and settled down to watch the show.
I giggled from start to finish.
Lesley Butler was a scream with her frequent appearances to announce the latest news.
Multi-award-winning singer- songwriter Susan Hedges provided the music, the wonderful Ozzie Yue was on hand encouraging the moggies to be positive and feeding them dubious-looking snacks.
It seems that the combination of Cathy Roberts and Brian McCann is a winning one.
Would I go and see it again?
Absolutely I would.
