A MESSAGE on the Wirral Council website says that on average 65 lights are reported each week.

Progress is welcome bearing in mind the crisis started last September.

The backlog was more to do with defects than vandalism in my community. This is when I first started regular complaints.

The council’s website still does not make it easy to report failed lights.

Anyone using the website has to fight their way through four stages to even start their report.

Parking, roads and travel - (click), roads and pavements - (click), street lights, traffic lights and signs - (click) and finally street lights.

And you are supposed to check if your light has been reported, too.

The list displayed on the website even today is the one for March.

Cllr Phil Gilchrist, Liberal Democrat group leader.
