THIS is a reply for the lady, Rhona, who responded to a poem of mine that you published.
Dear Rhona, if I may address you by your Christian name, I am John Elliott of 'Alone for now'.
I wrote several poems around that time but for some reason this one stuck in my mind and various happenings in my life reminded me of this poem.
One of these was when an elderly lady got on the bus I was driving at Christleton. I saw tears in her eyes which were for her late husband.
The tears were still there when she was alighting and I said to her: "Remember, my dear, the clouds only rain for some of the time but they take a rest so that the sun can shine, so remember the sun will shine for you again."
I was so pleased to read your comments in the Globe, it made me feel so proud. I want to thank you very much for them – they lifted me so much.
