AFTER reading the article in the Wirral Globe about street lighting, I decided to write to let your readers know about similar problems we have encountered.
Last year the road where I live was without a light from January right through until September.
I phoned Streetscene every week, and it is a hard job to speak to someone.
I also called all the councillors just before the elections, still no result.
Then l was told it was Scottish Power's fault so rang only to be told it was nothing to do with them.
After many phone calls, which are not cheap (my husband and I are pensioners), we got the first half of the street fixed then a month later the rest were repaired just in time for winter.
When the lights went out under the old council you rang the department in charge and they would come within that week – and the rates weren't anything like as high they are now.
