I READ with interest about a meeting which MP Alison McGovern had held with Women Against State Pension Inequality Campaign (WASPI) – an action group fighting against the changes to the state pension age imposed on those women born in the 50s.
As one of those women affected by this could I urge all women in this category to join this campaign.
Changes to the state pension were introduced surreptitiously and without consultation because of the rise in life expectancy.
However, many women of this age are either already in poor health, do not want to work but cannot afford to give up working, are unemployed or employed in jobs way below their capabilities.
The consequences of the rising of the pension age has not been thought through properly.
