WHEN I first decided to relocate to Wirral, one of the things that attracted and impressed me was the beautifully kept patches of grass outside the houses.

A few years have rolled by since I moved here and as I go for my daily walks around my neighbourhood, I am saddened by the sight of vehicles completely parked (off- road) on the verges, a growing trend where I live, the once beautiful verges turned into unsightly mud patches, with deep ruts and tyre marks, spoiling the lovely environment.

I try to keep the verge in front of my house tidy, but every so often someone comes along and parks partly on the verge and partly on the road.

Mostly there is no need to, but it's just habit with some drivers.

If I ask them politely not to park there I am quite often verbally abused.

A few years ago the council said they were going to take action about these practises, but nothing seems to be done.

Maybe their policy has changed.

I think there should be a campaign to put a stop to these selfish practices.
