READING the Wirral Globe this week about proposals to lose 85 full-time employees reminded me of an application that we were involved in about two years ago.

We had an on-site meeting attended by no less than 30 councillors from across Wirral.

This was followed by a meeting at Wallasey Town Hall, where the planning application was turned down unanimously by councillors.

The decision was appealed, it went down to the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol and was passed.

My point is this: some contribution could be made to saving £126m over the next five years by reducing the number of councillors from the 66 which we now have.
