REGARDING the article in last week's Globe about the 'golf resort' consultation exhibition which I attended.

I find the official council comments published to be rather optimistic and pulled straight from that well-referenced local government publication, Simple sound-bites for politicians.

I am very interested to find out how the statement “by and large, the response has been positive” was quantified and if the council are actually aware of the gravity of the "concerns" they are now taking away to "consider".

As I write this, I have open a four-page document full of questions the developers and council will be called upon to answer at the planning stage.

And, lest we forget, there's also that not-so-small matter of removing the proposed development land from the green belt – certainly no "walk in the park" (or golf course) to achieve.

However “excited” council leader Phil Davies and co are about their golfing paradise, it appears they may have underestimated the hurdles needed to jump and are trying to over-simplify the reality of delivering such a contentious scheme.

My fear is, they have got a touch of that old Bovine disease, "Cash-cow fever" and are in danger of ending up paddling in the Newton Brook panning for fool's gold.
