EVEN before I had read the letters in the Wirral Globe regarding The Dee in West Kirby, I had received a letter from Wetherspoon's telling me nothing that I don't already know regarding the closure.
Yes, it's sad and it's wrong also but some people only think of profit.
For instance, there are a cluster of Wetherspoon’s pubs around Liverpool city centre and closing one of them would hardly have been noticed but closing The Dee in lovely West Kirby to me is like closing down half of this lovely little area and splitting up people who have met and become part of the family which The Dee created.
Yes Wetherspoon's saved The Dee once and they could and should do it again.
The custom at The Dee was increasing all the time and becoming more and more popular, so yes Wetherspoon's must have a rethink because I feel that this lovely but neglected building will close forever.
It almost happened once - don’t let it happen again. Please, West Kirby is The Dee.
Peter Armitage, Moreton.
