IN the local libraries there are leaflets about a proposed golf resort and, also recently, details of flood defences we rather need.

There are already enough golf courses in the area; Leasowe, Heswall, Caldy and Hoylake Municipal and the more exclusive Royal Farmers Fields by "Tip Lane", as we have always called it, really should be reserved for cattle.

We don't need a golf resort, it's ludicrous.

On TV recent reports indicated that golf is declining because of lack of time and costs.

I am a keen golfer, but we don’t need a golf resort spoiling the little bit of countryside we have and interfering with the Gilroy Nature Park, where rare birds can be found.

The dreary weather we can endure from October to March is not ideal golf weather.

As for flood defences; yes maybe, but it's almost been once in a blue moon for serious floods.

Surely, improving and rebuilding the area around central West Kirby; the concourse, the awful pavements and concrete squares within, should be a priority.

It has been an eyesore for years and people astonished that the council has not spruced the area up.
