I AM very concerned about the check-in kiosks now placed in Arrowe Park, and probably other hospitals.

These kiosks are in full view of anybody standing behind someone when one is tapping in their details.

Therefore, anybody can see one’s personal details, including name, address, post code, doctor’s details and telephone number.

This makes a total mockery of anybody following data protection procedures and rules on confidentiality.

In fact, anybody could actually tap in any date of birth and have instant access to names, addresses etc.

The hospitals are very busy and it wouldn’t take much luck to just come across many personal details if someone is that way inclined.

When I tapped in my date of birth, several years came up – I could have very easily stolen any one or all of their information with no problem at all.

I watched eight people go to the kiosk and could, if I had wanted to, either make a mental note of their details or even photograph them on a phone camera with ease.

We are constantly being reminded about keeping our personal information safe and secure and yet, it seems the hospital has several points of access to potentially gather thousands of individuals’ personal data.

This should be treated as a major concern and action should be taken immediately to prevent innocent people’s personal information being used to their disadvantage.
