YOUR regular column Granty’s Inferno by Peter Grant returned again this week to the theme of the arts.
I cannot remember a piece of his in which he encourages Wirral people to visit their municipal art gallery, the Williamson in Oxton.
There they will find a notable permanent collection of sculpture and paintings, a changing programme of temporary special exhibitions, regular musical events and a café.
The gallery is a costly building to maintain and staff.
It is a considerable item of council expenditure, justifiable only if its appeal is to residents across the borough.
Your columnist Peter Grant would be doing a service to the arts locally if he could find space to promote the Williamson and sundry other centres of the fine arts.
Patrick Dowling, Oxton.
